Ask Liza

Monday, November 9, 2009 by Liza Ollila

The Ask Liza series on the blog is back for its second week and today I have a question from a reader regarding dress codes.

Q. I’m in charge of creating a dress code for the clinic that I work at. What recommendations do you have for where to look or how to get started??

A.
Thanks for the question. I’ll try to give you a few suggestions that will make this an easy task and hopefully the result will be a professional new look for your workplace.

To get started, I think you should browse through our Lydia’s Direct Look Book. This mini catalog is made for groups and each page offers ideas on how to coordinate different medical uniforms, colors and prints. Plus, we included a variety of brands and options in the look book since we know that dress code regulations vary from place to place. So start here and see what you think. It’s a great place for inspiration- even if you don’t see an exact look that you want; I bet it will still spark some ideas.

Second, I would recommend browsing through our collection of Cherokee Authentic Workwear scrubs. When it comes to groups, these medical scrubs are our best sellers and with good reason. They come in 32 different colors and there is an enormous selection of basics (prints and solids) for men and women. If you decide to go with Cherokee Authentic Workwear for your clinic it could be as simple as choosing one style and one color for everyone or choosing one color and then allowing employees to pick the style of scrubs that works best for them; you can even find prints that coordinate perfectly with the solid color that you choose.
Below is one example of coordinating Cherokee Authentic prints and solids.

I hope that these suggestions get you started as you create a new dress code for your workplace. And if you need more help don’t hesitate to ask!

Do you have your own questions about uniforms? Send them this way and I’ll post my answers next Monday, here on the blog.

Ask Liza

Monday, November 2, 2009 by Liza Ollila

Today marks the first day of a brand new series on the Lydia’s blog: Ask Liza. One day each week I’ll be answering all of your questions about medical uniforms and scrubs. Got a question about what’s in style? Here’s the place to ask it! Want to know which size will fit your specific body type best? I’ll give you my personal recommendations. Whatever your question might be, whether it’s about prices, sizing, styles, brands etc., I’ll do my very best to give you a helpful and informative answer. Submit your questions here.

I’m going to kick off the series with a fun question that recently came up. So here we go:

Q: I love having the most fashionable scrubs at my work place and I can’t wait for a new Lydia’s catalog to come in the mail. What styles and trends will be coming out in your next catalog that I can look forward to?

A: Just last week I was thumbing through the racks of our newest products and there were a couple of looks that jumped out at me. Browsing through these medical scrubs it was clear that prints are going to be huge next season, especially for the fashion forward. I noticed scrubs that featured more than one print, which is a definite style statement. I also saw a very fun top that features a bold, can’t be missed image; it’s completely one of a kind and I love that! Seeing these nursing scrubs showed me that uniform designers are really pushing the envelope to provide health care workers with new up and coming styles.

In addition to the trend of prints there were some unique necklines that I think you’ll like. In my opinion different style necklines provide an easy way to mix up your normal look, while still keeping it basic.

And the third thing that caught my eye was a new collection of medical uniforms from a popular street-wear brand. I don’t want to ruin the surprise so you’ll have to wait and find out which brand I’m referring to.:)

If you have your own question, send me an email and I’ll feature your question in the next Ask Liza segment. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Everyday I get to interact with Lydia’s customers on Facebook and it’s such a fun part of my job. I love answering your questions, spreading the latest Lydia’s news, creating contests and most of all hearing your comments and feedback on our service and products.

Last week I asked you to post your photos in the fan photos section of our page and I was so excited by the response. We received some great pics from our fans, who were all wearing their Lydia’s medical uniforms. I want to see even more photos of all our customers wearing their Lydia’s scrubs, so if you haven’t submitted one yet, stop by our Facebook page and post yours. And, one more thing: the next two customers to submit their fan photos will each receive $10 gift certificates to Lydia’s, better hurry!

New Grey's Anatomy- On TV and at Lydia's!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 by Liza Ollila

Grey’s Anatomy is back tomorrow with its season six premiere and as a faithful fan I know that I’ll be watching (after last season’s finale, how could I not?). Are there any other fans out there? What do you think will happen with George, Izzie and the rest of the crew in tomorrow night’s episode?

In addition to an all new season, there are also brand new Grey’s Anatomy uniforms online at Lydia’s (that’s right, one more thing to get excited about). The medical uniforms are perfect if you love the show, but I would recommend them even if you don’t watch it; they’re so soft and have such a great fit that you can’t go wrong.

So what do you think? Will you be watching season six and checking out the new Barco Grey’s Anatomy Scrubs? If you do either, share your thoughts here!

Cherokee Super Store

Thursday, September 17, 2009 by Liza Ollila
You’ve told us time and again that Cherokee scrubs are your favorite medical uniforms, so we took it upon ourselves to give you an amazing selection to choose from. We currently offer 400 Cherokee products and that means (I hope) that we have just what you’re looking for. In our Cherokee Super Store you’ll find prints, solids, tops, bottoms, lab coats, stretch scrubs, boutique fashions, you name it!

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of these options, let me give you a few recommendations. If your main focus when buying new scrubs is fashion and comfort, try the Cherokee Body, Flexibles or Touch collections. If you like to stick to the basics then you’ll definitely want to go for the Cherokee Authentic line. And if you’re all about style then Studio B scrubs are for you. We also have Men’s medical scrubs and sports scrubs so don’t miss those either.

Well, that’s enough from me. Stop reading and go check out our Cherokee Super Store. And don’t forget that you can get free shipping on orders over $75 if you order soon!

Designer Style to Scrub Style

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 by Liza Ollila
As we stocked our web site and catalog full of new products for fall, once again I couldn’t help but notice how many of the medical uniforms were influenced by everyday fashions.  Take a look at these two styles below and how similar they are to their designer counterparts.

The first two are vibrant colored solids that both feature the empire waist and the scoop neckline. And I don’t know about the designer look, but I can tell you that the Jockey Scrub Top is incredibly soft!

             Designer Style:           Scrub Style:
             Po Scoop Neck              Jockey Sweetheart
Empire Waist Top         Neck Scrub Top

The second pair includes two tunic style tops that feature can’t-miss prints in eye catching color combos. The tunic style is flattering on almost everyone, which explains why it’s coming back for everyday wear and making its appearance on designer nursing scrubs.

So what trends have you seen showing up on the latest medical uniforms?

Just In- New Fashion-Forward Styles from Koi

Thursday, July 16, 2009 by Liza Ollila
We wanted to give you a sneak peek at some new fall scrubs, so earlier this week we added the latest designer  medical scrubs to www.LydiasUniforms.com. I love these new uniforms and it looks like you do too because they’ve immediately become popular on the site.  Two of the pieces have been best sellers and with their unique styles I can tell why.

The Delia Tee has a layered look and features a funky zebra print. It comes in two great color combos. The one below is in steel/pink.

The Zoe Tee is a thermal knit that’s great for layering and the sleeves have thumb guards (really cute and functional!) which make it easy to slip into a coat, gloves or even another layer.

Besides being really youthful and stylish, both these tops are very comfy (I wouldn’t mind wearing them to work!). If you like these styles make sure to check out all the new medical uniforms by Koi. In addition to these tees I love the brightly colored print tops. Which new item is your fave? Leave a comment here.

Basics with a Twist

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 by Liza Ollila
Uniform designers are always finding new ways to add fashionable elements to basic scrubs, while still maintaining the signature look of a medical uniform. Some of my favorite medical scrubs are the basic tops that have subtle details which make them stand out. While checking out our newest products, I noticed a few great pieces that fell into this category. For example, this top by Cherokee ---->
is a basic solid that comes in a classic Ceil Blue, but it also has a fun neckline which is highlighted by the contrasting navy trim. Another example is this crossover top by Baby Phat. ---->
Although the look is simple overall, the scrub top has stylish tone on tone stitching and a feminine fit (thanks to the elastic on the back of the waist), which make it a bit different. Plus you can buy it in white and keep up the classic style or you can make a statement and get it in fuchsia! Both of these tops are dress code appropriate, but they’re still not your average scrubs. What do you think about these new basics with a twist?
