The Ask Liza series on the blog is back for its second week and today I have a question from a reader regarding dress codes.
Q. I’m in charge of creating a dress code for the clinic that I work at. What recommendations do you have for where to look or how to get started??
A. Thanks for the question. I’ll try to give you a few suggestions that will make this an easy task and hopefully the result will be a professional new look for your workplace.
To get started, I think you should browse through our Lydia’s Direct Look Book. This mini catalog is made for groups and each page offers ideas on how to coordinate different medical uniforms, colors and prints. Plus, we included a variety of brands and options in the look book since we know that dress code regulations vary from place to place. So start here and see what you think. It’s a great place for inspiration- even if you don’t see an exact look that you want; I bet it will still spark some ideas.
Second, I would recommend browsing through our collection of Cherokee Authentic Workwear scrubs. When it comes to groups, these medical scrubs are our best sellers and with good reason. They come in 32 different colors and there is an enormous selection of basics (prints and solids) for men and women. If you decide to go with Cherokee Authentic Workwear for your clinic it could be as simple as choosing one style and one color for everyone or choosing one color and then allowing employees to pick the style of scrubs that works best for them; you can even find prints that coordinate perfectly with the solid color that you choose. Below is one example of coordinating Cherokee Authentic prints and solids.
I hope that these suggestions get you started as you create a new dress code for your workplace. And if you need more help don’t hesitate to ask!
Do you have your own questions about uniforms?
Send them this way and I’ll post my answers next Monday, here on the blog.
When you buy medical scrubs at
Lydia’s, you’re not just shopping- you’re investing in your career. An investment in a professional, put-together appearance will give you confidence and help you leave a positive impression on your boss, co-workers and most importantly, the people who put their trust in you each day, your patients.
I know that it’s important for each of you to achieve a professional look without emptying your wallet, and at Lydia’s you can do just that. To show you just how affordable our scrubs are I’ve taken three uniforms (seven pieces) and broken down the cost of this investment in your career. If you wore each of these looks 52 times per year (that’s once a week), the investment for each outfit would be less than $1 per wear; that’s not bad! P.S. The investment for just one piece is as low as $0.23 per wear-less than a quarter!
These are just a few examples of affordable looks from
Lydia’s. We have many (hundreds!) more choices at prices that won’t empty your wallet. And if you have any questions as you’re deciding on a look, don’t hesitate to
ask. I would love to answer your questions and help you invest in your career!

Today marks the first day of a brand new series on the Lydia’s blog: Ask Liza. One day each week I’ll be answering all of your questions about medical uniforms and scrubs. Got a question about what’s in style? Here’s the place to ask it! Want to know which size will fit your specific body type best? I’ll give you my personal recommendations. Whatever your question might be, whether it’s about prices, sizing, styles, brands etc., I’ll do my very best to give you a helpful and informative answer.
Submit your questions here.
I’m going to kick off the series with a fun question that recently came up. So here we go:
Q: I love having the most fashionable scrubs at my work place and I can’t wait for a new Lydia’s catalog to come in the mail. What styles and trends will be coming out in your next catalog that I can look forward to? A: Just last week I was thumbing through the racks of our newest products and there were a couple of looks that jumped out at me. Browsing through these medical scrubs it was clear that prints are going to be huge next season, especially for the fashion forward. I noticed scrubs that featured more than one print, which is a definite style statement. I also saw a very fun top that features a bold, can’t be missed image; it’s completely one of a kind and I love that! Seeing these nursing scrubs showed me that uniform designers are really pushing the envelope to provide health care workers with new up and coming styles. In addition to the trend of prints there were some unique necklines that I think you’ll like. In my opinion different style necklines provide an easy way to mix up your normal look, while still keeping it basic.
And the third thing that caught my eye was a new collection of medical uniforms from a popular street-wear brand. I don’t want to ruin the surprise so you’ll have to wait and find out which brand I’m referring to.:) If you have your own question,
send me an email and I’ll feature your question in the next Ask Liza segment. I can’t wait to hear from you!
So many of you have told me how much you love Cherokee medical scrubs. I can see why: they’re well-known with a trusted name; they make scrubs that fit great and wash up well;

plus they offer something for every medical professional, whether it’s basic solids, designer nursing scrubs or professional lab coats. What’s not to love??
Today I want to tell you about a few new collections that are now offered in
Lydia’s Cherokee Superstore and I hope that you come to love these medical uniforms as much as you love favorites like Cherokee Authentic and Cherokee Flexibles. The new collections are:
Cherokee Studio,
Bamboo Planet and
World Adventure scrubs. Each line is completely unique. The Studio Collection is filled with youthful styles and features lots of fun prints. Bamboo planet scrubs focus on sending an eco-friendly message. And World Adventure scrubs are all about using rich earth tones to create fashionable styles.
I hope that you’ll stop by our
Cherokee Superstore and let me know what you think about these new uniforms. And next time you buy medical scrubs make sure to keep them in mind!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month-a month that is dedicated to promoting the fight against breast cancer and raising awareness around the globe. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been recognized since 1985 and has steadily grown since then. Each year I'm impressed with the efforts made by my fellow students, co-workers and

friends to support this cause and I know that as we move into October I'll see my co-workers here at Lydia's making their own contributions to promote awareness.
To help you show your support,
we’ve stocked our online store with breast cancer awareness nursing scrubs and medical supplies from Baby Phat, Cherokee and Dickies. If you place your order now you’ll have your new medical scrubs by the beginning of October and you can wear them throughout the month (and of course there’s nothing wrong with wearing them year round).
In addition to wearing pink, is there anything that you’re doing in October to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month? If so,
leave a comment and tell me about it. Or if you have pictures of you and your co-workers wearing your pink scrubs or working to raise awareness send them in, I would love to share them on the blog.
Got an opinion on Cherokee? Vote on which Cherokee medical scrubs are the best. It's all up to you! To cast your vote, just send us a text at 839863 with one of these brand keywords: AUTHENTIC, FLEXIBLES, BODY, TOUCH or STUDIOB.
Next week we'll tally up the votes and our winning collection will go on sale for all of our
text message subscribers. We'll send our subscribers an exclusive coupon via text message so
make sure that you're signed up for Lydia's mobile alerts.
I can't wait to see what your top pick is!
You’ve told us time and again that
Cherokee scrubs are your favorite medical uniforms, so we took it upon ourselves to give you an amazing selection to choose from. We currently

offer
400 Cherokee products and that means (I hope) that we have just what you’re looking for. In our
Cherokee Super Store you’ll find prints, solids, tops, bottoms, lab coats, stretch scrubs, boutique fashions, you name it!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of these options, let me give you a few recommendations. If your main focus when buying new scrubs is fashion and comfort, try the
Cherokee Body,
Flexibles or
Touch collections. If you like to stick to the basics then you’ll definitely want to go for the
Cherokee Authentic line. And if you’re all about style then
Studio B scrubs are for you. We also have
Men’s medical scrubs and
sports scrubs so don’t miss those either.
Well, that’s enough from me. Stop reading and go check out our
Cherokee Super Store. And don’t forget that you can get
free shipping on orders over $75 if you order soon!

My congrats go out to Shelly, the latest winner of our monthly Editor @ Large contest. Shelly entered the contest on Facebook and left the following comment about what makes her job more interesting than reality t.v.
I work as a Housekeeper at a hospital. Reality shows seem to be about drama & as a hospital housekeeper I see PLENTY of this on a daily basis not only within my department but throughout the whole hospital. My job is more interesting than a show because I am there in the "thick" of the events & it is all unfolding before my eyes..LIVE! I don't have to watch what happens through a t.v. screen, I get the sights, sounds and let’s not forget the smells! What makes my job great is that I get to be there in the 1st person sense of it all & that includes the feelings/emotions. I can't begin to say how many insensitive, strange, hilarious and my favorite… kind people I have come in contact with through my job! My job IS a reality show & I am lucky enough to be in the cast!
Thanks for entering Shelly, I loved hearing about your job and I hope you enjoy your $50 gift certificate to Lydia’s.
For everyone else who would like to win new medical scrubs, I have good news. The latest monthly contest is posted
here and in addition to that we are also running a
photo contest for the next week. So enter both contests and you might be getting your own Lydia’s gift certificate very soon. Good luck!
Happy Friday everyone. It was a busy (and fun) week here at Lydia’s. We worked hard to bring you the latest fall products (
check out the 140 new items online), we had a cookout and we also celebrated the 10 and 15 year anniversaries of a few Lydia’s employees; overall it was a good week. I hope you had a good week as well and that you enjoy all of our new medical scrubs, lab coats and medical supplies.

We wanted to give you a sneak peek at some new fall scrubs, so earlier this week we added the latest designer medical scrubs to
www.LydiasUniforms.com. I love these new uniforms and it looks like you do too because they’ve immediately become popular on the site. Two of the pieces have been best sellers and with their unique styles I can tell why.
The
Delia Tee has a layered look and features a funky zebra print. It comes in two great color combos. The one below is in steel/pink.
The
Zoe Tee is a thermal knit that’s great for layering and the sleeves have thumb guards (really cute and functional!) which make it easy to slip into a coat, gloves or even another layer.

Besides being really youthful and stylish, both these tops are very comfy (I wouldn’t mind wearing them to work!). If you like these styles make sure to check out
all the new medical uniforms by Koi. In addition to these tees I love the brightly colored print tops. Which new item is your fave? Leave a comment
here.
Uniform designers are always finding new ways to add fashionable elements to basic scrubs, while still maintaining the signature look of a medical uniform. Some of my favorite medical

scrubs are the basic tops that have subtle details which make them stand out. While checking out our newest products, I noticed a few great pieces that fell into this category. For example, this
top by Cherokee ---->
is a basic solid that comes in a classic Ceil Blue, but it also has a fun neckline which is highlighted by the contrasting navy trim. Another

example is this
crossover top by Baby Phat. ---->
Although the look is simple overall, the scrub top has stylish tone on tone stitching and a feminine fit (thanks to the elastic on the back of the waist), which make it a bit different. Plus you can buy it in white and keep up the classic style or you can make a statement and get it in fuchsia! Both of these tops are dress code appropriate, but they’re still not your average scrubs. What do you think about these new basics with a twist?

My congrats go out to Stacey, a Neuroscience Nurse, who is the latest winner of our Editor @ Large contest. She’ll be receiving a $50 gift certificate to Lydia’s Uniforms that she can use to buy stylish new medical scrubs. Here is Stacey’s winning comment:
Nursing was simply a calling for me. At the age of twenty-four, I suffered a herniated disk while at work. I endured nine months of debilitating pain. At the time, I was a young wife and mother to a 2 1/2 year old beautiful daughter. This was to be the happiest time of my life. But the pain I experienced was so severe that I considered ending my life. Then, finally with the benefit of an excellent neurosurgeon my pain was relieved. The nurses that cared for me post-operatively renewed my faith that I could go on and accomplish anything that I set my mind to, which at the time included walking. Finally free from my pain, I decided to become a nurse. I understood the pain that my patients would experience. I am now a Neuroscience Nurse. I see patients with injuries so much worse than what I suffered. I am able to inspire them and give them hope for a life that is worth fighting for, by my example. Being a part of someone’s recovery is a gift that truly never stops.
If you didn’t win this month, stay tuned; next month’s Editor @ Large contest will begin later today.

Heads up! Dickies scrubs just went on sale at
LydiasUniforms.com and we’re currently offering $4 shipping on all orders. These are two awesome deals and they’re even better combined, so it’s an ideal time to stock up on medical scrubs. I was browsing the marked down Dickies scrubs and there are some great prices. I would definitely recommend checking out this
contrast wrap scrub top ($9.59) and the
wide leg scrub pants ($11.19). The prices can’t be beat and these are two top sellers.
Which Dickies scrubs do you consider must-haves?
P.S. I just gave away a pair of Koi scrub pants on
Twitter and tomorrow I’ll be announcing the winner of
June’s Editor @ Large contest on the blog! Check back to see if you’ve won!

Happy Friday everyone. Shopping for new medical scrubs this weekend? Checkout our stylish
Baby Phat nursing scrubs, they’re currently all marked down 15%.
