My biggest pet peeve? I really have two... the first is patients who habitually miss their appointments and then get angry at me for not being able to call in refills for this or that medication. In most cases this is for their protection and well being! Pain killers and sleping aids do require a regular visit with the doctor, I wish more people realized that. My second pet peeve is patients who are late. We run on a tight schedule, so someone being half an hour late throws a big monkey wrench into the flow of our day. I realize that things can happen, but a quick phone call would be great. I have to say that even though there are some things that bug me about my job, I absolutely LOVE it! I went back to school after being a stay at home mom for over 20 years and graduated and was certified as a CMA at the age of 49 (even older than my instructor!). It's never too late to do what you really enjoy.
